Sustainable thinking and acting is imperative to preserve our planet and improve the quality and safety of the lives of millions. Covestro wants to contribute to this goal with products and technologies that benefit society and reduce the impact on the environment. This is the basis of the company’s vision “To make the world a brighter place.”

We have set ambitious targets for 2025. To attain these targets, we are aligning every facet of the company on sustainability. The “People, Planet, Profit” principle is one of the pillars of what we understand by sustainable development. We strive to mitigate the negative impact of our actions on the environment, advance society and at the same time create value. In these efforts, we always consider the entire life cycle of our products to ensure that our values and targets are applied, from the extraction of the raw materials to end-of-life of the product.

People, Planet, Profit also means that improvements in one area must not be offset by disadvantages in another. For example, we are trying to increase the amount of alternative raw materials used to manufacture our products, but only if this truly does help the environment. If the process requires vastly more energy or if more CO2 is emitted during transport than is saved, we don’t do it.

In this manner we work on solutions to the challenges of our time – to push the boundaries of what is possible.
